Current & Former Elected Officials

Illinois State Senator Scott Bennett

“Aaron Ammons has spent decades in Champaign County helping those that are too often overlooked and underrepresented. As our next County Clerk, Aaron will ensure that every vote is counted, and every person’s voice is heard."

Alicia Beck - Champaign City Council

"Aaron Ammons is my choice for Champaign County Clerk and if you are serious about voter rights he should be yours, too. As the Champaign City Council Member responsible for representing a large percentage of student voters, I welcome and embrace Aaron’s dedication to voting access on campus. It’s refreshing to have a dedicated candidate who will not only fulfill the technical components of County Clerk, but who will also be a constant advocate for voter rights and access.  I support Aaron Ammons and urge you to vote for him on November 6."

Artice James Precinct-committeeman Champaign 5

Astrid Berkson - Former Champaign County Board Member

Benita Rollins-Gay - Vice President, Urbana School Board Member

“I have no doubt that Aaron Ammons is the right person to lead the charge against Voter Suppression in Champaign County.”

Bruce Brown - Champaign School Board Member

Chris Stohr - Urbana City Council Member and Committee-person Cunningham Precinct 12

"Aaron Ammons has my support for Champaign County Clerk because of his staunch resolve in insuring that all voters get an opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to vote. He has demonstrated leadership with his considerable knowledge of state and local election laws and errant strategies to unethically remove voters from the rolls.

Furthermore, Aaron has helped persons who have served probation remove the stigma of felony from their record to restore them to their families and full re-entry into our communities. Aaron is coalition builder who has worked to reduce racial tensions in our community and justice for all."

Deloris Henry - Precinct Committee Person

"I support Aaron Ammons for Champaign County Clerk for the following reasons:
1. As an elected official, union leader ,community activist and organizer, Aaron has demonstrated that he has the leadership ability to rebuild integrity into the practices and policies in the County Clerk's office.
2. The County Clerk's office is tasked with providing vital services to Champaign County residents. As County Clerk , Aaron will work hard to increase voter participation through effective information and communication.
3. With Aaron Ammons as County Clerk, there will be No Voter Suppression in Champaign County!"

Faruq R.A. Nelson - Precinct Committee Person

Jared Miller - Urbana City Council Member

Jenny Putman - Former Champaign County Board Member

"Aaron Ammons has solid Democratic principles and he really values community service. I served with him on the Citizens Advisory Committee for Jury Service and he did an amazing job. Aaron is the best candidate because he has proven his commitment and ability to lead again and again."

Kyle Patterson - Champaign County Board Member

“We need someone with a proven track record of standing up to Voter Suppression, who has worked for years to get more people involved and who is not afraid to challenge the status quo. I am extremely concerned with the direction of our Country and County, in particular the way my voting rights may be diminished under GOP leadership. This office and our community need Aaron Ammons to be our next County Clerk.”

“I believe in Aaron Ammons and his leadership abilities. I think that the best thing that I can say about Aaron is that he has literally worked himself into position for the opportunity to be the next Champaign County Clerk. It is that work ethic, along with a high level of integrity, and a sustained track record of public service, that makes him the best choice for the office.”

Dave Brayfield

"I have worked on social issues and politics in one way or another since 1968, when as a 12 year old I participated in marches on our local draft board, and I can definitely state that I have seldom felt so strongly about a candidate as I do about Aaron and his run for Champaign County Clerk.
I have been friends with Aaron since he was in his early 20’s, over 25 years. Aaron grew up in our most troubled neighborhoods but somehow managed to make it past the abundant risks that young men of color face. He has grown into leadership roles at everything he applied himself to, as a social activist, a union leader, political campaign organizer and office holder.
HE IS A RELENTLESS ADVOCATE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESSES THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO ENSURING THAT THIS LAND IS OUR LAND, NOT THE FIEFDOMS OF A TINY PERCENTAGE OF OUR WEALTHIEST FAMILIES.
It is essential that the entity that runs our elections, the County Clerk’s office,, is in the hands of a capable advocate of inclusion of all our citizens. Anyone who has worked or watched our electoral processes in Champaign County knows that obstruction of democratic processes is the status quo in Champaign County.
AARON BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF OUR RIGHT TO VOTE, AARON CAN BRING OUT THE VOTE, AARON CAN AND WILL PROTECT THE VOTE ONCE IT IS CAST!
This office has never been held by a member of the Democratic Party. It is long past time that we make winning this office our top priority!
I INVITE YOU ALL TO JOIN ME IN WHOLEHEARTEDLY SUPPORTING AARON’S CANDIDACY IN ANY WAY YOU CAN!"
